PoC2Ops

This story takes us through directly querying a DynamoDB table through the AWS API Gateway. In this story we will cover the high level of IAM polices, roles, user groups, and users that will be needed to use the API Gateway connecting to DynamoDB. We will also take you through setting up your first DynamoDB table, Creating API Gateway and then testing the API through Postman. As with many of the AWS stories there are lots of ways to accomplish the goal. We will be walking through one of the options.

Process Overview

Create DynamoDB Table -> Create IAM Policy, Role, User…

Upgrading AWS Lambda Function code from Python 2.7 to Python 3.8

This story takes the reader through the process of upgrading AWS Lambda Python code from Python 2.7 to Python 3.8. There are a couple of ways to accomplish this, but in this story I will take your through deploying a new Lambda Function and changing the EventBridge trigger to call your new Lambda Function

Background

Our existing Lambda function is from an Elastic Block Storage (EBS) snapshot scheduler which was an existing deployment provided by AWS. This python code was deployed with Python 2.7

Create a New Lambda Function

Our first option that we will explore is deploying a new Lambda function and modifying the existing…

Topic Modeling with PoC2Ops

In this story I will take you through the journey of analyzing a statement to determine if you give it a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down. The key to building a efficient model is to have a good set of training data. In this article I’m assuming that you have already prepared a set of training data. But I’m going to give you an example of the training data that I used in this story. This story is part of a bigger story series that I’m breaking down steps in the Machine Learning process. This story will cover Data Prep…

This story takes you through the process of importing and using python libraries into AWS Lamba. Lamba by default includes a set of python libraries but you will often run into deploying python code to Lambda that reference a library that is not there. For example you try to execute your Lambda function and you get the following error message

"errorMessage": "Unable to import module 'lambda_function': No module named 'pymongo'",

This story will take you through how to resolve the error message and proceed with using AWS Lambda functions. I will walk you through creating a Lambda function using a…
